Yes. An MD from an Italian university is recognised in India once the student clears the FMGE (now transitioning to NExT). The degree is directly equivalent to an MBBS for registration purposes — the qualifying exam is the bridge.

Two things. First, our tutors sat the IMAT — they teach the paper, not a generic MCAT-style syllabus translated for Italy. No — the programs we support are taught in English for all pre-clinical years. Italian is useful (and eventually necessary) for clinical rotations in Years 4–6, when you're on hospital wards with Italian patients. Universities provide free Italian courses from year one. You learn the language on the job.

It varies by university and year. Non-EU cutoffs for 2025 ranged from the low-30s (smaller programs like Parma, Marche) to the mid-40s (Pavia, Rome La Sapienza). Detailed per-university, per-year cutoffs — both EU round 1 and non-EU — are on /medicine-italy/#cutoffs.
